Lara Pearson, Attorney at Law

Dear Friends, Clients, and Fellow Do-Gooders,

Dear Friends, Clients, and Fellow Do-Gooders,

2025 was humbling, to say the least. The year began with the inauguration of a convicted felon as our President and the immediate destruction of longstanding Governmental institutions and attacks on law firms and the Rule of Law. As a legal professional, this felt confusing, sad, and frightening. Then, in early February, Brand Geek lost its two biggest clients, accounting for half of our annual revenue. One client ran out of capital, and the other brought in capital, bringing with it Big Law. As a result, we suddenly had to lay off our Paralegal, Andy, who had been with Brand Geek for 3 years and was very much a part of the family. Brand Geek also had to terminate the 6% annual 401(k) contribution it was making for our remaining employee, Niya, though it maintained the legally-mandated matching of the funds that she contributed. If 2024 was a year of growth, 2025 was a year of contraction. And it hurt.

Despite our reduced income, we maintained our level of giving, resulting in pro bono and cash donations totaling 23% of our gross annual revenue.

Looking ahead, we plan to maintain at least 5% annual giving, and to improve our B Impact Assessment score under the revised framework.

With deep gratitude,

Lara Pearson
