2024 was a year of bold moves, belly laughs, and lessons that kept us humble. At Brand Geek, being a Certified B Corp isn’t a title—it’s our operating system. And this year, we leaned in.
We kicked off the year by transitioning two long-time contractors into employees, and launched a 401(k) through fellow B Corp Social(K), with 6% salary contributions (no match required). We also welcomed Lisa, our bookkeeper, to the team from sister B Corp HigherRing. Small team, big upgrade.
Impact-wise, we donated over 10.5% of our gross revenue through pro bono legal services, cash donations, and 65.5 hours of volunteer time—including my personal favorite: helping run a local election.
Not everything was sunshine and smiles. Our B Corp score dipped to 93, down from 94.3 in 2023 and 113 in 2020. Why? We scaled back tracking on environmental metrics (carbon, water, waste) and gave a bit less than in peak years.
Our biggest environmental challenge continues to be Scope 3 emissions from travel, thanks to my Tahoe-based life. In addition to reducing travel in 2024 we countered our emissions by offsetting them by 210%.
Additionally, we have dropped the ball on consistently posting our annual benefit reports, as required by Nevada law. It’s not great, and we’re working to fix it. Progress, not perfection, right?
Looking ahead, we plan to launch profit-sharing, maintain at least 10% annual giving, and continue improving our B Impact Assessment score under the revised framework.
Here’s what hasn’t changed: our belief that people are the soul of every business. And this mighty little team continues to prove that impact doesn’t require size—just heart.
With deep gratitude,
